The Holosun HE407C X2 Green Dot Sight (HE407C-GR X2) is a 1x open-reflex pistol green dot sight with a single 2 MOA green dot on the Trijicon RMR footprint, running from a side-loading CR1632 cell with Solar Failsafe supplemental power.
A green emitter reads brighter to the human eye than red at the same power, which is why shooters working against dark backgrounds or in woodland light often prefer it. The X2 generation adds Lock Mode against accidental setting changes and Shake Awake, which sleeps the reticle when the gun is still and wakes it on movement, across twelve brightness settings — ten daylight and two night-vision compatible.
How it compares
The red-emitter version is the HS407C X2 red dot sight. For a switchable circle-dot in green, the HE507C X2 green dot sight adds the Multi-Reticle System, and the HE507C X2 with the ACSS Vulcan reticle uses a chevron and ring instead. Is the Holosun HE407C X2 an RMR or an RMSc footprint optic?
The Holosun HE407C X2 Green Dot Sight uses the Trijicon RMR footprint, so it fits RMR-cut slides and optics-ready pistols supplied with an RMR-pattern adapter plate. The RMSc-footprint equivalent in the Holosun range is the K-series HE407K X2.
Why choose a green dot over a red dot on the HE407C X2?
The human eye is more sensitive to green than to red at the same output, so the 2 MOA green dot on the Holosun HE407C X2 tends to look brighter and crisper for the same power draw. It is the usual choice for shooting against dark or woodland backgrounds, and for shooters with a mild red-green colour deficiency.
What is the difference between the Holosun HE407C X2 and the HE507C X2?
The Holosun HE407C X2 has a single 2 MOA green dot. The HE507C X2 adds the Multi-Reticle System, which switches between a 2 MOA dot, a 32 MOA circle and both together as a circle-dot. Both share the RMR footprint, the CR1632 battery and Solar Failsafe.
What does Solar Failsafe do on the HE407C X2?
Solar Failsafe takes supplemental power from ambient light and will keep the green dot on the Holosun HE407C X2 lit if the CR1632 cell dies, so the sight is not left dark by a flat battery in daylight.
What battery does the Holosun HE407C X2 use and how is it changed?
The Holosun HE407C X2 uses one CR1632 cell in a side-loading tray, so the battery can be replaced with the optic still mounted and zeroed. Holosun rates it at up to 50,000 hours of runtime with Shake Awake active.
