The Holosun HS407C X3 Gold Dot Sight (HS407C-X3-GD) is a 1x open-emitter pistol gold dot sight with a single 2 MOA gold dot on the Holosun 507C / Trijicon RMR footprint, in a 7075-T6 aluminium housing weighing 1.5 oz (43 g).
The gold emitter is the point of this variant. It sits between red and green in the spectrum and reads as a warm amber aiming point, which many shooters find separates more cleanly from red and orange targets, steel painted red, and autumn woodland than a red dot does. Everything else is standard X3: a revised housing with a forward-facing light sensor for adaptive brightness, Solar Failsafe backing up the side-loading CR1632, Shake Awake and Lock Mode.
How it compares
For a switchable circle-dot in the same colour, the HS507C X3 gold dot sight adds the Multi-Reticle System. The same 2 MOA dot is available in HS407C X3 red and HE407C X3 green. Browse every gold dot sight we stock, all RMR footprint red dot sights, and the wider Holosun pistol red dot sight range.
Ideal for
- Section 1 long-barrelled pistols and revolvers held on a UK firearm certificate
- Shooters who lose a red dot against red-painted steel or autumn backgrounds
- Pistol-calibre carbines and rimfire trainers on an RMR-pattern mount
- Airsoft GBB pistol builds where a distinctive aiming point helps in mixed light

What is a gold dot and why choose one?
The Holosun HS407C X3 Gold Dot Sight uses a gold emitter rather than the usual red or green. It shows as a warm amber aiming point, which separates more clearly than red from red-painted steel, orange targets and autumn woodland. Optically and mechanically it is the same X3 sight as the red and green versions.
What footprint does the Holosun HS407C X3 Gold use?
The Holosun HS407C X3 Gold Dot Sight uses the Holosun 507C footprint, which is the Trijicon RMR pattern, so it fits RMR-cut slides and RMR-pattern adapter plates.
What is the difference between the HS407C X3 Gold and the HS507C X3 Gold?
The Holosun HS407C X3 Gold has a single 2 MOA gold dot. The HS507C X3 Gold adds the Multi-Reticle System, which switches between a 2 MOA dot, a 32 MOA circle and both together as a circle-dot.
Does the Holosun HS407C X3 Gold have Solar Failsafe?
Yes. Solar Failsafe on the Holosun HS407C X3 Gold Dot Sight draws supplemental power from ambient light and keeps the gold dot lit if the CR1632 cell fails, working alongside Shake Awake for a runtime rating of up to 50,000 hours.
What battery does the Holosun HS407C X3 Gold use and how is it changed?
The Holosun HS407C X3 Gold uses one CR1632 cell in a side-loading tray, so the cell can be replaced with the optic still mounted and zeroed.
What does the forward-facing light sensor on the X3 do?
On the Holosun HS407C X3 the light sensor faces forward, so automatic brightness is set by the light falling on the target rather than the light behind the shooter. That keeps the gold dot correctly bright when shooting from a shaded firing point out onto a sunlit range.
