The Primary Arms PLxC 1-8x24 LPVO Rifle Scope in black (part number 610202, SKU PA-PLXC-1-8X24S-NOVA) is a 1-8x magnification, 24 mm objective low-power variable optic on a 30 mm tube, with a second focal plane (SFP) ACSS Nova fiber-wire reticle and daylight-bright illumination. The whole scope is 9.28 in (236 mm) long and weighs 16.95 oz (481 g), adjusts in 0.1 MIL clicks with 120 MOA of windage and elevation travel, and has fixed parallax.
PLx Compact is Primary Arms' premium line, and the point of this particular scope is that it delivers an eight-times zoom range in a body shorter and lighter than most 1-6x optics. On a carbine-length rifle that difference is felt every time you shoulder it. The glass is a clear step above the SLx range, and the ACSS Nova fiber-wire reticle gives a daylight-bright aiming point without the etched clutter that slows some LPVOs down at 1x.
How it compares
This is the second-focal-plane, MIL-based Nova version in black. The same scope is offered in Flat Dark Earth with the ACSS Nova reticle. If you want the reticle to stay true to scale at every magnification, the first-focal-plane models are the PLxC 1-8x24 FFP with the ACSS Raptor 5.56/.308 Yard G2 reticle and the Japanese-made PLxC 1-8x24 FFP with the ACSS Griffin MIL G2 reticle. For a lower-cost 1-6x, see the SLx 1-6x24 Gen IV with the ACSS Nova reticle. Browse the Primary Arms LPVO range, all LPVO rifle scopes and optics for straight-pull rifles, and read our guide to first and second focal plane scopes.
Ideal for
- Civilian Service Rifle and practical rifle, where a short, light optic helps on a carbine
- Practical shotgun and 3-Gun, where 1x speed matters more than reticle scaling
- Straight-pull AR-platform rifles in Great Britain wanting premium glass in a compact body
- Shooters upgrading from an SLx who want better glass without added length or weight

What does the ACSS Nova reticle actually do?
The ACSS Nova is a fiber-wire reticle with a daylight-bright illuminated centre surrounded by MIL-based subtensions, which let you range a target of known size, hold over for bullet drop instead of dialling the turret, and hold off for wind and for moving-target leads without taking your eye from the sight.
Which calibre is the ACSS Nova reticle calibrated for?
The ACSS Nova is a milliradian-based reticle rather than a calibre-specific bullet drop compensator, so its subtensions are stated in MIL and work with any cartridge once you know your own drops in MIL. If you want a reticle built for a specific load, the PLxC is also offered with the ACSS Raptor 5.56/.308 Yard G2 reticle.
What does second focal plane mean on this 1-8x scope?
Second focal plane means the reticle stays the same visual size as you change magnification, so the ACSS Nova remains large and easy to see at 1x for close work, while its MIL subtensions are only correct at one stated magnification.
What mount does the Primary Arms PLxC 1-8x24 need?
The Primary Arms PLxC 1-8x24 has a 30 mm tube, so it requires 30 mm rings or a 30 mm cantilever mount. No mount is included with the scope.
How does the PLxC differ from the SLx range?
The PLx Compact line uses a higher grade of glass than the SLx line and packs a 1-8x zoom range into a shorter, lighter body, measuring 9.28 inches and weighing 16.95 ounces.
Does this scope have adjustable parallax?
No. The Primary Arms PLxC 1-8x24 has fixed parallax, so there is no side parallax knob to set and nothing to adjust between targets at different distances.
