The Holosun HS407C X2 Red Dot Sight (HS407C-X2) is a 1x open-reflex pistol red dot sight with a single 2 MOA red dot on the Trijicon RMR footprint, running from a side-loading CR1632 cell with Solar Failsafe supplemental power.
The X2 generation adds Lock Mode, which stops the settings being changed by accident, and Shake Awake, which sleeps the reticle when the gun is still and wakes it the moment it moves. Twelve brightness settings — ten daylight and two night-vision compatible — cover an indoor gallery range through to full summer glare, and the aluminium housing keeps the sight light enough to sit on a slide.
How it compares
For a switchable circle-dot rather than a plain dot, the HS507C X2 red dot sight adds the Multi-Reticle System on the same footprint. In green, see the HE407C X2 green dot sight. Is the Holosun HS407C X2 an RMR or an RMSc footprint optic?
The Holosun HS407C X2 Red Dot Sight uses the Trijicon RMR footprint. It mounts to any slide cut for an RMR and to optics-ready pistols supplied with an RMR-pattern adapter plate. For the smaller RMSc footprint, Holosun's K-series models such as the HS407K X2 are the equivalent.
Will the Holosun HS407C X2 fit a Glock MOS?
Yes, provided the RMR-pattern plate from the Glock MOS adapter set is fitted. The Holosun HS407C X2 has the Trijicon RMR footprint, so on any optics-ready pistol it needs the plate that matches the RMR pattern rather than the RMSc one.
What is the difference between the Holosun HS407C X2 and the HS507C X2?
The Holosun HS407C X2 has a single 2 MOA red dot. The HS507C X2 adds Holosun's Multi-Reticle System, which switches between a 2 MOA dot, a 32 MOA circle and both together as a circle-dot. Housing, RMR footprint and CR1632 battery are otherwise the same.
How do Solar Failsafe and Shake Awake work on the HS407C X2?
Solar Failsafe draws supplemental power from ambient light and keeps the 2 MOA dot lit if the CR1632 cell fails. Shake Awake switches the reticle off when the Holosun HS407C X2 has been still for a period and brings it back instantly on movement, which is what supports the 50,000-hour runtime figure.
What battery does the Holosun HS407C X2 use and how is it changed?
The Holosun HS407C X2 uses one CR1632 cell in a side-loading tray. The tray is accessible from the side of the housing, so the battery can be replaced with the optic still mounted and zeroed.
Is the Holosun HS407C X2 night-vision compatible?
Yes. Two of the twelve brightness settings on the Holosun HS407C X2 are night-vision compatible, so the 2 MOA dot can be dimmed far enough to be used behind a night vision device.
