The 6 MOA dot is large enough to find without hunting, and the gold emitter shows as a warm amber aiming point that separates from red-painted steel and orange targets in a way a red dot does not. The 7075-T6 aluminium housing is rated IP67 and tested to 5000G, with Shake Awake and last-setting recall, and a side-loading CR1632 rated to 50,000 hours.

How It Compares

For a switchable dot-and-circle reticle in the same body, the HS507COMP gold dot sight adds the Competition Reticle System. It separates more clearly than red from red-painted steel and orange targets, which is exactly where a red dot is hardest to hold at speed.

Why does the Holosun HS407COMP use a 6 MOA dot?
A 6 MOA dot is large enough for the eye to pick up immediately as the pistol comes up, which is what decides a close-range competition stage.
